A story about someone I'm sure we all know.

 CLAUDIA CHATTERBOX

Claudia Chatterbox loves to talk,

Her vocal chords steady and strong.

Never at a loss for words,

She can sure make a short story long.

Her jaws are always flapping.

She talks a mile a minute.

If there’s ever a talking contest,

It’s guaranteed she’d win it.

Windy and full of hot air,

She can talk up a storm.

She’ll talk your head off,

And make it an art form.

She can yap all day,

And chew the fat.

Then yak all night,

With idle chit chat.

You can’t get a word in edgewise.

She can prattle, babble, and blab.

An expert at hogging a conversation,

She was born with the gift of gab.

Her real name is KellyAnne Conway, and it's hard to live on the same planet with her.

YES! I actually do know of someone like this, she'd start to talk and not stop for an hour or more & she'd make it look like it was someone else's fault when she was asked to stop running her mouth...I won't say who this other one might be, suffice to say she is blond and she and I talk a great deal to each other...-e-

Not only were you funny with this one, you brought out a truth. I believe that chatterboxes usually have a rather low self-esteem and find themselves talking all the time in order to keep others from interjecting better comments than they make. I also learned in graduate school, that in small groups, the people that talk the most usually are given the leadership role--reminds me of Donald Trump. David Thompson's examples of two of his students is right on. I found that these talker leaders tend to be poor leaders.

Two examples: One time a director who I thought may have been on cocaine, he was so paranoid, called me to berate me for something that I had no control over. I left my phone on speaker so that he could be heard out in the hall and went to the health center to have my urine bag emptied. Fifteen minutes later, when I came back and smiled at the secretary who had to listen to him go on and on, he was still talking, not knowing that I had left the phone for so long. When he blew up on the Executive Director like he had done many others, he was fired and escorted from campus by police.

A couple of nights ago, my partner's best friend from long ago who calls often from Australia after losing her family's savings and is deeply in debt from two very bad business deals, called again and talked rapidfire for over a half hour with my partner every once in a while, interjecting, "a huh," to let her know that she was still listening. If talk could get around of the serious financial problem, she would have easily solved it. ;-)

LOL!!! This reminds me of one of the Chinese actors/producers, Stephen Chow's movies in which he has an argument competition with a pimp woman who ran a house of prostitutes. The two of them barf out words so fast from their mouths to argue with one another and in the end, Stephen won. That pimp woman was exhausted after hours of argument. Stephen Chow is a Chinese comedy actor. He wrote, produced, and acted in all his own movies. One of his best was "Shaolin Soccer".

"Oh those Claudia Chatterboxes,
Whatever they say sounds vague,
whenever they come to show up,
I avoid them like the plague."

Having taught school, I crossed paths with quite a few Claudia Chatterboxes during my career. But there are quite a few Charlie Chatterboxes out there, too. I can recall two in particular—a Claudia and a Charlie. I couldn’t teach because of them. During class discussions, they dominated. Neither of the two were mean in any way. They just liked to talk. Wouldn’t you know that Claudia became a teacher, and Charlie . . . well, he’s a minister. Sorry, Michael. I got sidetracked. Your poem took me down memory lane for a while. You did another great job with this one.

I had to laugh as I read this because it reminded me so much of myself when I was a kid. Today I have a little more self control but back then I was a potential auctioneer!

Well done!
