Be careful the company you keep

I accepted the dinner invitation with great reservation not knowing in what vein it was offered. But my host’s graciously offered meal was otherworldly and he toasted with cheers and asked me ‘who do you want to drink’?

Delightful poem and such appropriate timing with Halloween just around the corner. I love your slant on things, "...not knowing in what vein it was offered ..." Great line! I wish I had thought of that (wink)
