Poem Artwork

the madness continues
to rage on earth below:

poets write for peace
and see it exploding
right in their faces;
brothers embrace brothers,
then stab them in the back
the first chance they get;
disasters plague the earth
and i don't want to be
around when it disappears
in a massive ball of fire ...

scratch my existance
out of the sands of time,
and throw me across
the ocean of stars -
i want to be where God is,
above the madness -
because Lord knows mama tried.

Ahhh but don't you think God wants us to be where he needs us the most, soldiers to protect the innocents, priests to pray for lost souls, teachers to teach children, and we.....we poets to let our insights and dreams spread the word that the world can be changed.

Mama tries very hard, but one day very soon, She truly will lose all self control, and I hope I'm where you're gonna be when She does, Karla.

These are dark times, indeed, Dear Karla
yet Hope can be the light that breaks through
the darkness. So keep that flame burning.

This is excellent work, Karla but because we each are part of the whole, we are each responsible for the madness that exists. I am certain that each of us could do more to make changes, but the situation is so overwhelming that we see the problem but develope no viable solution. We have reached a time in our society where we have all stooped to finger pointing. Once we point a finger three times at others it is time to realize that we should be pointing at our self. Changing the world will happen one responsible individual at a time and we will teach by example. For some reason, a feeling of futility seems to be the order of the day and of the masses.
Take care,
Sherry

There's a song in this! Indeed a lot of evil is going on in our world today, and the media hypes a lot of it. There are as many positive things embracing our world as negative things. Many of the positive jewels are in the form of education, religious endeavors, and the arts. These wondrous things also make the headlines, but you have to change your view to see the UNbold print. Only negative headlines make the bold. Nice BOLD write, Karla!
