After a warmer than average late December and above normal January (as far as temperatures are concerned), winter will slap us with reality. We're under Winter Storm Watches from Friday afternoon through Sunday night; freezing rain and/or sleet is likely during this time; we could have 1/4 inch of total ice accumulation. What's the big deal? In Texas, the ramifications are huge...doesn't take much to really muck things up. TRUST me. :)
Anticipating Spring, trees bud early; flowers stretch to life from their long sleep; birds stitch migratory patterns on wing and song; the sun warms human hearts with promises to come...
it's too bad winter has other plans in the works.

Ah yes the late bite of winter! Always a mess! In CA I saw what a little rain could do.........can hardly image what will happen when Ice comes to the south!
A well-painted picture that is fully endorsed by the glorious visual, Karla. Like the rest of us, seems that Nature herself is confused by the ways of the world which we are co-inhabitants of. I think we are left in no doubt as to who has the upper hand in this uneasy partnership... Very imagist write that leaves a certain expectation of even bigger things to come... Promises, promises!! If it's any consolation, last week here in Florida we had freeze warnings in Palm Beach County. That only 40 miles north of Miami. And most of us don't own winter coats!

False spring rears its apprehhensive head and gets knocked into the full blast winter. Looking for a silver lining where there isn't any, much like its human counterpart.
The old Scottish saying is " Never cast a cloot until May is out " !!
Sometimes the birds, animals and even we humans can be lulled into a false sense of security by Mother Nature !
