Two strangers came together as friends to melt their talents and weaknesses into one entity. Here is the result...

Poem Artwork

A Father's pride smiles on him

As he stands in khaki green

He wears an army pack and rifle

Though he's not more then a teen

He's flips his dad a quick wave

As he marches to the plane

He's off to fight on foreign ground

In a country gone insane

A Mother's tears flow freely….

As a child goes off to war

Toy soldiers line the shelves

He won't play with anymore

Knowing she can't shelter him

From a world she don't understand

She has to watch him walk away

A child forced to be a man

Father reads his letters first

His son's a hero for his Dad

He tells of battles won and lost

But he never sounds too sad

He tells of places he has seen

What's going on at home

He seems just a little more mature

Perhaps his son is missing home

His mother reads the letter next

She reads between the lines

She senses his inner fear

So many tell tale signs

She holds the letter to her breast

As she kneels down to pray

She prays not for what he says

But what he doesn't say

Dad hears the doorbell ringing

He saw the black sedan arrive

The flags upon the fenders

Say his son is not alive

Yes sir, he died a hero

Here's his medal for his hero's fight

Father stood there pride now gone

Why did he let him take that flight

Mother's tears fall unashamed

The cry of a tortured soul

How can she endure the pain

Without her son to hold

Her heart slowly shatters

Lying in pieces on the floor

While toy soldiers line the shelves

He won't play with anymore
