Are You Checking Your Work? 7/19/2016 7:56:59 AM
Are you checking your work? Are you checking the words you put down on paper or do you just rush through? Take some time to check what you write. Are you checking your work? Are you checking the words you put down on paper or do you just rush through? Take some time to check what you write.
Poor spelling and poor grammar often do not get your point across and it can turn people off. It’s like wishing somebody “Happy Birthday” and then misspelling their name. The whole sentiment of your good wishes is thrown out the window because you did not value what you wrote enough to check it before you sent it.
If your spelling is bad, get a dictionary. Invest in a small thesaurus you can keep in your purse, pocket, or briefcase. Use the spell check. Or ask someone to take a look at what you wrote.
Check frequently, so that you don’t have the arduous task of proofing page after page. When the work piles up it becomes easier to speed up and mistakes can slip by. It can ruin your words. It can ruin the spirit of what you write.
Take the time to get it right the first time. Not only will your words be more clearly understood, but you will have cultivated a habit which can help make your writing so much more successful.
