Are You Getting Bogged Down? 7/19/2016 8:10:39 AM
Are you getting bogged down- distracted by all the other things you have to do in life and find you have little time to write? And then you find, when you do sit down finally, that all those ideas have flown right out of your head? It happens a lot, and it’s frustrating. Are you getting bogged down- distracted by all the other things you have to do in life and find you have little time to write? And then you find, when you do sit down finally, that all those ideas have flown right out of your head? It happens a lot, and it’s frustrating.
Why not get into the habit of getting one of those little voice recorders and keep it with you, and when an idea strikes you then you can just record it for later use? Now I know you’re probably saying that you can use your phone for that- and that’s true; but how many times has it happened that you might be talking to somebody on the phone and an idea strikes you for a character or a new location for your novel, for example- but you’re already talking on the phone so by the time you finish the call you’ve already forgotten half of it? If you keep a small recorder in your pocket you can capture that sentence…or those words- that spark an idea. And then at the end of the day review the recording and write it down. If you do that every day (or at least once a week) then you’ll have more material and then when you sit down to write then things will start to take shape faster and flow more easily.
