The Weatherman Was Very Much Mistaken
Not a cloud in the sky
Warm and sunny and dry
Where I was expecting the flood
Which had been predicted
And felt so restricted
The chill had invaded my blood
Here inside hunkered down
Afraid to go to town
Expecting to be swept away
By Noah's Flood sometime today
Imagining the worst of everything
But now the clouds have gone
I peek out and get on
With life as it begins to look like spring
The weatherman was very much mistaken
And I am embarrassed I was taken
In as I waited for rain to begin
Whichever way the wind should blow
If on the wings of wind should ride a storm
I should just look out my window
And see that clouds before conclusions form
Sometimes weathermen are the last to know
Now to convince myself that I am warm
I turn off the TV
It is only winter in my house
And grasp reality
Spring has come despite what I have heard
For every busy bee
For each fast-moving mouse
For every nesting bird
And better late than never for me
