Super Moon Mantra

Moonrise wasn’t visible from my location so I didn’t see the exaggerated horizon orb in living color. It did come up high enough awhile later so I could take this shot through an oak tree. I need to buy a tripod.

Poem Artwork

Who dares defy the moon beam’s power

Where shadow’s tentacles lurk

What spirit scoffs the midnight hour

In the midst of this cosmic quirk

Swirling light mimics mists of dawn

As it permeates black leaves

Dancing patterns on the lawn

Tiptoe silently like thieves

Ghostly images grow and fade

As it glides across the night

A tug of war that Nature made

Once a year glows extra bright

It is said that phantom warriors

Take this night to reappear

Sent as supernatural couriers

Using light instead of spear

Those that fail to heed the warning

Ignoring Mother Nature's voice

Will find the following morning

Regret they made that choice

Super Moons come for a reason

To remind us all to share

For sharing has no season

But for humanity that is rare

Instead of basking in a light so pure

The world usually chooses

To make honest fellowship obscure

Thus the entire planet loses

Well I'll be damned… I didn't even go out and look at it! It sure would've been nice if you've gotten one of those great photographs that I've seen on the Internet. Well, maybe next time…

I've been experiencing a lot of the moon beam's power lately pursuing a dog named 'Shadow.' And the world truly needs a lot more sharing.

Not much to giggle about with this one, (sniff, sniff) serious stuff, but very interesting reading. Much enjoyed.

Great, serious poem, my north of the valley friend. I did see the moon a few nights ago but forgot it's meaning and just passed it off as another moony night.

Enjoyed every single word, Patrick...lots of sad truths here! And the pic is neat! We had a totally cloudy sky and didn't get to see that super moon...sigh...

Sharing is great, Patrick, and I have a few overdue bills I'll like to share with somebody. Looks like I have no takers. Eh, I guess I'll have to occupy something.
