spring
the trees
sing
atop the oak
songbird sings a single note
over and over
a cardinal calls
from the budding forsythia
the dogwood answers
power lines swing
in the light April breeze
redbird takes flight
in hideaways
blue jays raising holy hell
hawk overhead
by the lake
I close the book to watch
the duck parade
above the wetlands
a dead tree alive
with egrets
from the cypress tree
cry of a young fish hawk
trying out its wings
the gull and I
watch the tide ripple in
tasting the wind
on wings of the gull
my mind soars above the clouds
reaching for the stars

And, for all my days to come, I will never see, hear or even think of a gull without thinking of you. I do believe you have a special one who must be your angel. Or maybe - you are its . . . like you are ours.

What a wonderful season it is when nature seems to come alive from a long winter's slumber.
I love how the Great Blue Heron, the ducks and the swans all seem to live out the melodies of the season.
Blessings,
Christine
