The piano keys tripped a light-hearted beat;
In the night, moonlight walked on slippered feet.
The soft notes burst like drops of water splashing;
The stillness of the stars sounds like quiet amassing.
What rhythm punctuated the humming silence!
What light to dispel the darkness with its brilliance!
Sound drops trembled in the bone white moon glow;
Star light sparkled bright in the pure white snow.
The piano offered the soft rhythms of its keys;
I kneel down in the darkness on bended knees.
From my own throat emerges the sound of soul;
The voice contains emotions from my heart stole.
I will bow down my head to reflect a deep humility,
As the night roams half the earth with subtle futility.
I put my face into my hands my tears to wipe away;
The night contains a darkness with too much to say.
Who ever thought darkness could make such a sound;
The notes of the piano swallowed by silence all around.
I forgive the night its transgression and hold no regret;
The sound of the night holds mystery I will never forget.
The darkness of night is both my bane and my glory. It is when I am most alive, which makes it rather difficult to relate to those who embrace the light of day.
Lines like, "the sound of the stars like quiet amassing," are quite unique. There is a deep, dark, and almost sad, feeling to this poem of being lost in the darkness.
A piano and the moon........beautiful! But the darkness being so loud as to swallow the sound of the piano's notes is, yes, a transgression. You have forgiven the night for this and I give you a lot of credit to be able to do so with no regret. Fine write!!
the burst sound in the night is actually the reboot of our souls accompanied with 'the piano offered the soft rhythms of its keys.' That's why it's better to kneel down at that moment to stand the heavy load of the darkness. Some hear you in the night sound, John. Cheers, alex
