-- As Nature Speaks --
John Herlihy
As nature speaks, we listen as mortals;
Its sublime vistas pass thru secret portals.
With nature’s touch, our hearts feel caressed,
Its loving tenderness makes us feel blessed.
Even when we have fallen into a sour mood;
The sunset lifts us out of ourselves as we brood.
In the tropics, monsoon rains wash the land clean;
Dewy mist or thundery deluge are what they seem.
The distant mountains, sleeping behemoths, silent;
They speak to us of mysteries majestic and defiant.
Let us not forget the stately rhythms of night and day,
Singing faithfully with celestial melodies, as if at play.
With the voice of silence, we rely on nature to speak,
Mighty, miraculous, whose beauty makes us feel meek.
