Blinding White

Nature CAN be more violent than man...

THE wind doth whine through the trees,

Bringing with it a blizzard of snow,

White blindness does accompany this show,

Fingers and toes do eventually freeze…

COVERED from head to toe,

Shielding the self from the wrath of snow,

No amount of clothing can alleviate the cold,

The face numb, the winter does around you enfold…

NO longer does one care,

Death would be welcomed,

So cold now one does for death prepare,

Coming on the heels of life, one is beyond being aware…

THE trees just seem to at you laugh,

In summer they do shade on your behalf,

In winter though they are an enemy,

They treat you like a child who is only but half…

EVENTUALLY your place of refuge is found,

You do now appreciate the baying of your hound,

Led from a frozen death by the prolonged sound,

One does in his home collapse in a mound…

Ah ha! I resemble that remark. Relly, it sends me recollections of my time spent in Wyoming when I was in service of Uncle Sam's United States Air Force. Good poem, man.

This reminds me of one of my favorite short stories by Jack London - To Build a Fire. The dog makes it; the man does not. If you've never read it, check it out, Bro - and good poem!
