Surely tis hard to at it stare,

With your eyes, yes the pair,

Without some powerful shade,

The sun, while only a star,

Can burn your eyesight away, I’m afraid…

 

I sat on a bench and looked aloft,

That which gives us light & heat,

Stared back without comment,

The celestial sun did on my bare head beat…

 

Too contemplate something quite strong,

One cannot do so with time prolonged,

She does of our senses burn,

Until we of necessity away turn…

Either we turn away or the things we see out of become burnt powder. I had a mother-in-law like that once, the more I looked at her the more my eyes felt like she had thrown acid in them. I'm not too sure the bitch didn't. Hah!
