I wrote this poem more than 25 years ago.I distinctly remember the day and the mood when I wrote this. It was the first rains after a dry hot summer season. Very soon the entire scene changed! This is my expression of the changes it brought out. I call it the Rain dance!

Poem Artwork

(The wind was snarling at my door

all night/ all night. 2

 Romancing rain,mystic nature....

The first downpour is falling down ) chorus

Parched earth gulps  limpid drops

It titillates her with acuity

Like burning incense earth emits

Sweet fragrance in the odorous air

The glorious Sun  beneath the misty sheen

Peeps to see little brooks gurgling

Lonesome rambling streams flow

And spurts to kiss dancing leaves

Listen to its resonating beat

A sound so rhapsodizing be

To taste  cascading drops

Come croaking, frogs burrowing worms

The rainbow filters through turbid sky

Peacocks Perch to preen pretty plumes dry

   A lovely lament radiant fall

Sing o heavens , be joyful all

For this downpour from yonder

On this yielding union on earth

When the sky roars clothed in black robes

And the earth is waiting coyly.

I love this poem, but it is the very last line that does it for me. Make that the two last lines. You have given your readers a generous feast of imagery within the lines of this very good poem.

Vivid images of how the rain replenishes life. Thoroughly enjoyable.
