A BELL
It’s not easy being a bell,
The way our shape is cast.
And we’ve been called “ding dongs,”
Throughout much of our past.
People like it when we peal,
They hear we like to swing.
But all that constant noise,
Only makes our ears ring.
If we’re part of a clock,
We’re there to do the time.
Because every hour on the hour,
We’ll commit a chime.
When we’re in the cradle,
We like to rock about.
But age takes its toll,
And wears our clapper out.
We make beautiful music.
We don’t bang and clang.
We just hang around all day,
Waiting to be rang.
