A punny poem

 FLIES

The police station was infested with flies,

And the squad room was abuzz.

There were flies flying everywhere,

Doing what a fly does.

Everyone was bugged.

The number of flies was extreme.

The Capt. needed backup,

So he called in the Swat Team.

Dammit! If you didn't do it again! Another slamdunk.

I really suggest that you put all these together in a book with a cover that will attract attention on the coffee table in the living room. If you place it under the “humor” or “funny” genre and don't mention that it's poetry (some people hate poetry) people will buy it just to have something to read even if it only ends up behind the toilet.

Believe me, you are that funny. You might even go on the comedy circuit and just recite a few of these rather than do a regular standup. You'd be surprised how the audiences would roar and not shout you down as some stupid poet.

I was holding my breath for the dead body to appear. I read too many murder mysteries. But it would have been an interesting paragraph.
Let me see if I could write one in fun:

Flies buzzing by the spilt can of Tab,
Leading us to the body on the slab.
One circled around her ruined hose,
Finally landing on her long nose.
