For all the ketchup lovers out there.

 KETCHUP

A SAUCY LITTLE POEM

Pour on the ketchup,

It’s the condiment that’s king.

It’s my favorite vegetable,

And goes with everything.

Ketchup on my burgers.

Ketchup on my fries.

Should I run out of ketchup,

All you’ll hear are cries.

Ketchup’s made for dunking,

I pour it on my plate.

I put ketchup on my ketchup,

It makes any food taste great.

I love its flavor and aroma.

And bottles easy to squeeze

So when it’s time to eat……..

Pass the ketchup, please.

The ultimate process food. Since ketchup is composed of vinegar, salt and sugar rather than the tomato we see and think is there, it's easy to get hooked on the flavor. I always felt sorry for people who had to put ketchup on everything for having their tastebuds ruined so they could taste the flavor of well-made French fries on their own or other foods that have flavor of their own, destroyed by the overpowering sweet sour of ketchup. Still, knowing that ketchup is what it is, I still, very rarely, enjoy ketchup alone on a hot dog. Or, mustard alone on a hotdog. Once again, mixing condiments like they do on McDonald's hamburgers, defeats our sense of taste.

I beat you to the punch long ago when I wrote a poem about Catch Up. I followed shortly after with a poem about Must Turd. They weren't intended to be eaten just punny.

This poem touches my heart and makes stomach smile. If it were not for ketchup I would not enjoy eggs with potatoes once in a while. Michael Schafer, you produced another winner! John M.D.

Ketchup is great on everything you are right, except for hot dogs as that would be sacrilege...:) -e-

The bottles were not always easy to squeeze. In fact, it took a long time for someone to figure out about the squeeze bottle. Like wheels on suitcases. My sentiments exactly about ketchup. I love it. John

Honestly stated, Michael. I like ketchup too, although perhaps not as much as you do. LOL! Love, peace and best wishes,

Regis
