Catching Up With The Past

I'm not sure I'll ever catch up.

 CATCHING UP WITH THE PAST

Somewhere along the way,

Technology passed me by.

I still use a landline phone,

To make calls and say “Hi.”

I still write letters and checks.

I still use a VCR.

I still use a key,

To unlock my car.

Every remote control I own,

Has buttons that never get used.

All I need are power, channel and volume.

The rest just leave me confused.

It’s a digital world,

And I’m an analog man,

I’m meant to live,

In a less technological land.

I’m running about 20 years behind,

And it seems the die is cast.

I’m doomed to spend the rest of my life,

Catching up with the past.

I hear your pain. I fight to keep pace with the changing times, but I still use my old cell phone or as I affectionally call it, my "stupid phone." I'll go down fighting.

Well done, Michael. I am sure there are many of your "ilk." I'm not so technologically upbeat myself. I got my first mobile phone about a year and a half ago. It is an android smartphone and yes, it is smarter than I am. It does so much, it's often just too much for me. Lol! Love and peace to you,

Regis.

I agree!

To start our cars we use a car key. Not true with many others.

The new Fords scare me to death. I rented one and to gas it up you have to lean forward and press the nozzle in. This car will not go forward unless you mess with the dash and press buttons that seem so awkward.

Give me back my old Chevy Nova. It was sporty, good on gas and behaved like it ought-ta!

Amen, my friend.

A wonderful declaration, or was it a lament? I was forced into the digital age when I found Rotary dialing onerous and reading clocks without numbers tedious. I really have no regrets going digital especially, dictating this response. I do have a trouble with using my digits, my fingers, on touchscreen devices that are taking over from the primitive mouse and keyboard. While I still have secondhand keyboards on my new computers and secondhand mouses as well.

If my desktop phone goes the way of the rotary phone and public phone, I will be in deep shit. But I'm not contemplating it just yet, going to bed with the flow.

Oh, I love this! Your words touched upon the issues I am having with technology. Wow! It's moving so fast! Please remain seated until the ride is through!

Love ya!
