This came to me so strong...

The past,
scorched;
the now,
burning;
the future,
ashes
floating in smoke-filled skies.
The rage
of war
consumes everything in its path,
a flaming inferno:
Have we
learned
n o t h i n g?

I hear from others all day about the positives that can come from wars and how they view the future and I'm here to tell ya that people are changing. Maybe a step at the time...but the world is a little more postive than they were yesterday and the small voices are teaming up for one heck of an echo of peace.

Susan

Karla - like dynamite, this one.........POW!

You laid it wide open, Sister: It's the spirit.. BEHIND the behavior/action....that keeps it going. Will we EVER learn?

Yes ... on the funeral pyres of stupidity and ignorance man will eventually rest if he doesn't get on his knees and look up and reach out.

Karla, this was as powerful as an exploding volcano. BRAVA!

Your friend ...

We teach history not to gather facts and dates but to learn of past mistakes. But history repeats itself. No, we've learned nothing. Good point, Karla, Victor

That many of the normal people of every race colour and creed now see how futile it is to kill anothers natives. We are growing up, the extremists of every race are being ridiculed as they are misfits in this world...

This is a power pen write Karla and very much where I'm at in my poem. Humanity is responsible for all the ills in the world and only Creator knows what to do with us! Of course some are more guilty than others ,but in our own ways we carry wars on with family and friends the same way never coming to terms with solutions. Sad truths!Excellent write!...ET

As from the fact that we continue to have wars, I would say mankind has yet to learn from his killing spree...ed

Karla, it surely seems "we" have not, although I refuse to group all mankind as "we." Short, succinct and scary!

No, otherwise there wouldn't be wars called by old men to send the young to their death.

Well said.
