Watching some squirrels popped this one into my head. :)
Squirrels. Chasing their tails, leaping from tree to tree in a last burst of energy before the winter covers all in cold, chatter amongst themselves about the latest nuts in the news while searching for nuts they can actually eat.
Sounds just like election time for all of us.

Ah yes, little tree rats. They love the seed I put out for the cardinals and grackles. Here they shave green pine cones like corn cobbs and drop them all over the place.
I wonder if they like me, I'm a nut.

.. too true, too true!!! I have long admired their athleticism as they leap from branch to branch and from pillar to post... but they can keep their scatty brains, which they seem to leave all over the place for me to pick up on... Now where did I leave my pen... ???? Kxx :))
