Ice Storm!

... the world's largest game of "Red Light/
Green Light" outside:  frozen in the "stop"
position.  Ice has stalled everything in its
tracks.  Sidewalks are a skater's dream:
even if one doesn't know how, they will
learn or fall, trying.  And forget the roads:
cars going everywhichaway but straight:
drivers think they know how to drive on
ice.  They forget:  ice drives them unless
one has a Zamboni.  It's slick as a whistle
out there:  the weather ain't fit for man or
beast.  Best to stay in on days like this ...

"slip slidin away", fog and ice, two of the most challenging conditions for drivers, and walkers to contend with -- your photograph does a masterful job of showing the sheet of glass effect of the ice, Karla -- a Zamboni, I never thought of having one for the icy roads -- it is a terrific idea -- may peace and love be always with you -- JMW

I like the documentary feel of this short piece of writing.
I've never been in the middle of an ice storm,

Brrrrrrrr! Up until today we've had some nice weather here in Florida, but the storm is here now, raining, raining, raining...
We started out at 70 degrees and are expecting freezing by morn...

Dull and gloom
have set over my head,
and the sky was RED this morning!
As I walked the dog, I saw a rainbow...no sun, no rain...just a rainbow in a red sky...
Gave me the willies, it did!

Gosh! You two be careful and for Gosh sakes, stay INSIDE!

I had to come home early from work today because of the snowstorm. It's been snowing all day. Just clearing up now...

"ice drives them..." loved it! Now that same storm is here, and the town never plows or salts our road, so there you go--if you aren't careful. ;)

You describe the icy conditions beautifully. I tried driving on icy streets once and nearly scared myself to death. Never again. If I lived where it gets that cold, I'm afraid I'd become homebound until the "thaw".
