i've been in three tornadoes.

thank God, none have been this bad.

each, however, stands out vividly in my memory.

with pent up fury

the demon wind roars

stalking the darkness

hunting new victims

like a spoiled child

weary of its toys

it picks some of them

and throws them away

and smashes others

under wrathful feet

smash! there goes a house

crash! another one

that neighborhood is

now a parking lot

the crushed hulls of cars

litter the landscape

those that could escape

cower at the noise

that the demon makes

as it rapes the land

the demon wind is

not very choosy

who will live or die

it aims to destroy

all who encounter

it will remember

the experience

the rest of their lives
