the ice storm that hit texas hit at night
everywhere you looked was covered in white
three inches of ice everywhere you look
looks like something you d see out of a book
bidnesses and schools have cancelled classes
drivers are cussing driving like asses
they re showing the ice storm on the t v
it s all over the news on the p c
it looks like fun to see kids slip and slide
kitty wants to try kitty goes outside
kitty s curious you know what that means
kitty s gonna explore this is routine
kitty steps off the porch down kitty goes
this white stuff is hard it isn t like snow
kitty gets up and kitty looks around
kitty cuts a backflip kitty goes down
kitty s up paws go four different ways
kitty looks funny with paws crossed and splayed
kitty stands up kitty falls down again
kitty s getting mad kitty counts to ten
kitty raises her butt into the air
that s more info than kitty wants to share
kitty gets up kitty s up on four paws
into the ice kitty digs with sharp claws
that does no good bam kitty goes down hard
kitty hisses at this stuff in the yard
kitty s cold now kitty wants to go in
how to walk on this stuff how to begin
slow not too fast kitty s not a cheetah
kitty walks slower than methuselah
takes the better part of the afternoon
on kitty s fur icicles are festooned
kitty finally gets into the house
kitty would rather face a rabid mouse
or invite doggie over for some veal
although kitty could wind up as the meal
than dealing with this nasty thing called ice
kitty thinks ice is bad ice is not nice
-----------------------------------------------------------

when we had the ice storm last week
here in north texas, walking and
driving proved to be quite a chal-
lenge...i busted my yo-yo on three
different occasions. didn't hurt
myself (thank God), but boy...was i
embarrassed! :) this poem is kind
of how i felt, walking on ice. it
ain't easy!

You make me dizzy with laughter see kitty skidding. And I know what it means to fall on your yo-yo, happened to me in England (in Malta it never snows). Excellent poem.

I love that 'bidnesses' bit.
I have relatives in Dallas that are freezing their bippies off, both ends.
Poor kitty. Another good one from you.
