I wish to join in the dance
of heavenly celebration,
Spirits of the North entrance
with their mystical gyrations.

Changing colors mystify,
gauzy Spirits swirl overhead,
Legends told can terrify
but I'm filled with wonder, instead.

Transparent hues dance and swirl,
creating a show just for me,
Again, I'm a little girl,
and whistle, jump and clap with glee.

They turn red, show displeasure,
and They fade, and tears mark my face;
I'm sorry, beyond measure,
and I call out to Them, in space.

"Don't go away, Northern Lights,
have I angered You in some way?
Don't leave, Spirits of the night!
for I'd much rather You would stay.

"I'm sorry, please dance once more!
and I'm sorry that I've been bad;
I've never seen Spirits before,
if You leave...I will be sad."

They ask me to join their dance,
I thank Them, with a grateful heart;
One day, I will have that chance,
until then, may I watch their art?

Once again, They light the sky,
but soon, the show comes to an end;
I thank Them, They say "good-bye,
We will return to you again."
