tHE DREAM

THE DREAM WAS JUST THE BEGINNING
IT MADE ME KNOW WHAT IT WAS I WANTED
THE DREAM, IT CAME EVERY NIGHT FOR MONTHS
AFTER THE YEAR I TURNED SIXTEEN
INTENSE, DRAMATIC, FULL OF HIM
THE MAN I WANTED TO SHARE MY LIFE
GRADUALLY THE DREAM FADED
AND MY IDEAS TOOK OVER, NOW HE GREW
HE WENT FROM IDEAL TO PERFECTION
DAYDREAMS, THOUGHTS DURING CLASSES
I FLESHED HIM OUT, BROUGHT HIM TO LIFE
HE WAS MORE REAL TO ME THAN THE PEOPLE
I KNEW, BECAUSE I MADE HIM, THE WAY I
WANTED HIM TO BE AND THAT MADE HIM EXACTLY
WHAT I WANTED, NO ONE ELSE COULD COMPARE
I SHUNNED THE MEN AND BOYS I MET
THEY WERE NOTHING COMPARED TO HIM
I WOULD WAIT FOR HIM, NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TOOK
AND I WAITED, AND WAITED UNTIL THERE WAS NO ONE
TRYING TO FILL HIS SHOES, AND STILL I WAITED
UNTIL FINALLY THE DREAM CAME BACK
AND I HELD ON TO IT BECAUSE IT WAS ALL I HAD

Sue, wonderful write. Mr. Perfect has imperfections. Sorry, but it is a fact of life.
