It's amazing to watch birds! Entertainment at its finest!!! giggle

There’s a woodpecker on the windowsill
But the sill’s not made of wood!
He’s banging away at the metal trim
And I don’t think that he should!
Tiny dents from his pointed beak
But he simply can’t break through.
He seems a little annoyed with it all
I wonder what he’ll do!
Persistent little fellow for sure,
But I think he’s had enough!
With one last peck he flies away
Guess his beak is not that tough!

I agree with Karen, I love watching woodpeckers. We have had several of the red heads hitting on the pine trees. This is a very good write. May God bless you every day of your life.

I love watching woodpeckers; they are so entertaining! And so is this winsome write! Well done, Annabel; enjoyed this one!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Texas, Karen Lynn. :D

My favorite "woodies": the red-headed woodpecker and the pileated woodpecker.

Sometimes they do that to establish their territory although it may be a bit early for spring mating rites; perhaps he knows something we don't. Loved this, Annabel. Love and best wishes,

Maybe it's reincarnation. From the days when you were Cleopatra and Mark Anthony is still wanting to use his pecker.

This moves at such a good pace. Once again you write such an enjoyable and very vivid poem! I lurve your poetry!!!!

What a dull world it would be, without the birds. And I never need an alarm clock, when those woodpeckers are out and about!

What a persistent woodpecker was he...but alas, he gave up and flew off and away.

Hah! Those stinkers at my home in Missouri have pecked a jillion holes in my eaves. I put out some fake owls but they just laugh at them. Patrick

Delightful poetry!
I keep 4 feeders full, including a suit feeder. 3 of them the squirrels can get into- so things end up messy.
The woodpeckers go for the suit- if the squirrels permit.
It gets very busy out there.
