Oddly, on the day of 9-11-2001, I had awoken from a dream. In that dream surrounded by darkness, I could make out a shaft of light and the silhouette of an archway. Silence , only interupted by a mutted horrible shrillness. Slowly my eyes focused, my ears were ringing from a terrible flapping, I looked up and saw a solo dove beating against the walls and archway, wings flapping irradically into the walls and archway, as if a pinball.
When I read this poem, it haunts and I relive that eeriness.
Profound, such an astonishing account whether you've experienced it or not, you show us. It's vivid, as if it is out of the headlines of today's war torn countries.
Wow...a beautiful expression of the Love and spirit as it realizes it is time to go home - rest, blessed rest. This is an absolutely stunning work, Regis...I enjoyed and savoured each and every word. I too have a piece entitled War and Peace, it is posted in my den - I think you would very much enjoy it. I also think you will see the similar echo of your message.
Fascinating imagery, Regis. Our home, loves, souls truely only exist in our mind & memory. let's hope we all can escape from this ghoolish world and find lands of true happiness. Franz
You have captivated your readers with this incredible write! Your powerful expression takes one through war and finds inner peace in the end! Thanks for sharing this sad, but wise and inspiring treasure!

Thank you Regis for your gracious comment on my poem!
You, sir, have a way with words! This is a deeply touching reminder for all who think about either war or peace. The dichotomy of imagery is striking and you offer it here for us in stunning array.
Poignant well written poem, Regis...best wishes Andrea

I cannot honestly add anything that hasnt already been said.....except,(yea ok) this is one dream or vision I would never want to experience and the fact that some do is heartbreaking.
Hope, is the word we should cling to I suppose.
Thank you Regis. You really captured the mind of person living in a war-torn county who is yearning for peace. You took to a journey we didn't know where it will end or wether peace will be found. and at last the the wings of a white dove flung open tos whisper peace upon your soul and my soul as well and the soul of every peace-lover.
Thanks Regis. Love and peace to you.
there's never any going back, as they say ... but you did, in this remarkable piece, and despite the negatives attached to the positive original thoughts, this piece ended with heart-felt peace, all in the right place. nice work, regis
Oh my word, Regis, this is
absolutely your best! I was so
astounded! With joy! The first part
is rather grim. That is ok though.
That is what it is about, war!
Beautiful!
You amaze me every time you write!
Way to go Regis!
Love to you,

Regis, this is brilliant poetry with an extraordinary message. Poems like this help us all to recognize that peace can/does, indeed, rest within the deepest part of our soul if we so allow. Your work lately has been truly exceptional. Dawn
*shivers* this is one of the most provocative, intense pieces i've read in a long, long time. haunting. powerful. heartbreaking. and enlightening. all at once. this one will stay with me a while...and will hold an honored place in my library to savor again and again. thank you, sir.
The first thing that captured my eye as I entered your den was the title of this poem. It made me think of the book with the same title by Leo Tolstoy. I've always had an interest in history and specifically war. This might sound peculiar considering my inherently peaceful nature and my vocal stand against violence of any kind but my interest comes from what can be learned through war rather than war itself. I have always found inspiration in the indomitable nature of mankind during times of extreme conflict.
Regis you say you have not experienced this and yet you write so convincingly, you took us into your 'dream'. All that I've said above has been captured in this moving poem. You are a brilliant poet and you can count me among your many fans
With respect and admiration... Chanti
An intricate juxtaposition of darkness and light, of a soul longing for the simplicity of childhood, knowing he can not recapture it, while in the throes of life's most complicated conflict. The dove in the soul usually represents divine spirit in us and while sometimes the most painful and difficult demons of our mired lives would seem to rip us open and kill us, they need not. Staring down death and our demons often makes stronger and frees our spirits to higher. Kewl write, due.
Okay, that's my pseudosermon/review for today. I know you say you're not French, but those glasses with the moustache make you look like un monsieur for sure. ;-) Tootles, Reg.

Almost as good as WAR AND PEACE by Tolstoy, just a bit shorter. Good work!

Ohmigosh, how sad. That the only way to find true peace is to die. I don't think you meant it this way, but is that what war is all about? Because to live is to war and only through death is there peace? I truly want to think we can find peace while still alive - but maybe it will take a few more incarnations...Beautiful piece, Regis, do share this with the world.

Yes I think most that have been in battle have known this.
Actually you have been through this. War is just a metaphor for the times we are in chaos and try to shake it by going back to places that made us happy. But when we go back, the places aren't the same anymore, and we are not happy again until we grapple with whatever bothers us, or we are forced to do so, as when the "bullet" hits us. works on mnay levels good job
This is a magnificent write REgis. Everything you could
ever hope NOT to experience! However, you seem to come to the conclusion that is reality, if we choose to face it, only then
will we have the peace that passes all understanding. This world
has been at war since its inception, we only add to it by hating
one another, we must always spread love and peace ourselves each one
if we are ever to have it in the wider world. Thank you for this splendid poem!
Oh Regis! This piece you have crafted so well, reminds me somewhat of the war that seems to be raging within me...yet with the visual of the white dove in my soul opening its wings and finding peace brings me much hope.
Thank you as always for sharing your spirit with us.
There's a very cinematic, slow-motion, tranquil quality to all of this, Regis, in spite of it's disturbing scenes. It speaks to me of allegory - a need to get back to basics and the death of innocence; perhaps, too, of the need to look inside of our own hearts and souls to find the way of peace for a ravaged world gone mad. I can't adequately express what this does and says to me; the sure sign that poetry has done it's work, because I certainly won't be forgetting it in a hurry, either. It just has that certain "je ne sais quoi" quality that so much of your excellent work does. Your disarmingly uncomplicated style combined with always pertinent and unique "takes" on life packs a powerful punch and message. TY for this. Go gently - love the specs!! LOL Kate xx
Death does bring peace, or so I do hope...I was there, did some of that, experienced some of it too, used to pray for death, was not my time, I guess...I still experience it every night in a dream/nightmare, I hope you don't ever again, it is NOT a nice dream...Find Peace, Ed & Rufuz
Regis, when we have these dreams and/or visions we need to take time to reflect upon them from every angle we've been blessed with.
You've experienced it in mind..now experience it in soul.
