Some witches aren't so bad... ...some even inspire limericks.

Poem Artwork

Limericks XVI

A wicked old witch from the west
Was determined to accomplish her quest
On her magical broom
She spread doom and gloom
She would not let anyone rest

There once was a fellow named Parr
He was a crusty old tar
He liked to tell tales
Of mermaids and whales
Which he did from his stool at the bar

There once was a fellow named Beecher
He was made the town's sole teacher
He did such a poor job
He was canned by a mob
And became the town's sole preacher

A lad from the school of hard knocks
Learned to kick as he learned how to box
He grew tall and strong
Knowing right from wrong
He's become the don of the docks

There once was a lass named Mary
She was known to be quite contrary
She had a garden
Where the local warden
Was seen quite often to tarry

A man from the town of Kildare
Waged a hare at the fair on a dare
Though he did not win
He met up with Gwyn
And together they made a fine pair

A wonderful lady named Quick
Is an accomplished musical chick
She knows all her notes
She gets all our votes
She knows every musical trick

There once was a lady from Weyburn
She had a most wonderful churn
With it she made butter
That made her heart flutter
And all of her customers yearn

There once was rotund fellow
Who would wear nothing but yellow
Mistaken for a squash
He was thrown in the wash
It was then he was heard to bellow

There once was lass named Jackie
She had a pack horse named Lackey
She transported goods
Far into the woods
To a camp where some men made sake

I somehow reading these get the feeling a lot of them can pertain to your life, I do know a lot of them pertain to my life and way of living. Then some are new lessons in life, and some I might try if given the opportunity. Oh no, beware, lol!

I am not a fan of limericks, and don't get them either so I can't say whether you did a great job with this one or not. But I do sense a cheerfulness and fun about the poem.

it's "Jackie the lass with the pack horse named lackey" that bites at my fantasy Regis -- but for goodness "sake" I know that you already guessed as much -- the one with the broom has chased me long -- 'tis unpleasant indeed for she has great speed -- thanks for a laugh or three and limericks from the man with so many writing tricks and talents -- peace and love be always with you my friend -- Jon Michael

There once was a witch from the East
Who on newt tails was ordered to feast
She thought perhaps on a grill
The taste might actually thrill
Or make them tender to chew at the least

This is my, quickly off the top of my head, witch limerick. Loved these.
Take care,

There once was a man from the North. Who liked to put limericks forth. He wrote with the flick of an old hockey stick: that witch turned me into a dwarf! Something like that. Rhyming with North is a tough one. Funny stuff Regis. Hope you're well. Best!
