Yes that is me and I did drive a 1966 AMC Rambler Rogue... :) ...I was a student at the time so of course, I did not buy the car new. But, you can still try and guess my age if you want to. Lol!!!

Poem Artwork

Tale of a Rogue... ...and much more

When young I drove a Rambler Rogue,
Its fine engine spoke with a brogue.
The seats were flexible,
And quite convertible,
In those days they were quite in vogue.

There once was a gal from Rosedale,
In Hope Slough she said she’d seen a whale.
She was not believed,
Until folks perceived,
It was clear the whale was Uncle Dale.

When I lived in the town of Guelph,
I once took a book off the shelf.
There before my eyes,
Much to my surprise,
Stood a nude and hairy blue elf.

There once was a lady from Rangoon,
Who wanted to swim in the lagoon.
She powdered her nose,
And took off her clothes,
Then jumped in and swam like a loon.

There once was a gal named Daris,
Who wanted to go to Paris.
The men there she said,
Were the best in bed,
So she went to Paris and wed Harris.

There once was a fellow from Hull,
Who had little hair on his skull.
His cranium was shiny,
And when out on the briny,
It was the perfect place for a gull.

There once was fellow named Curt,
Who loved to wear a mini skirt.
Though his legs were hairy,
It made him merry,
And attracted a fellow named Bert.

There once was a lady from Kent,
Who had no money for rent.
When her landlord insisted,
She strongly resisted,
And did not give him a red cent.

There once was a gal named Callie,
Who lived in the Fraser Valley.
She grew weary of rain,
So she and her friend Jane,
Took a plane and now live in Bali.

There once was a fellow named Bob,
Who was fond of corn on the cob.
He ate it with butter,
It made his heart flutter,
He even consumed it on the job.

Limericks very clever,
Something I could do never.
If I were to try
I probably would die,
But who wants to live forever.

I had a 65&1/2 Mustang fastback in college. It left me sitting one time too many and I sold it for 100 bucks........Sure wish I'd kept it, but who knew?

:) love the limericks, aye I agree a handsome young devil man... Loved your poem. My first car was a 1969 Dodge Dart, bench seats and I was so proud of it! I used to write limericks in junior high, it was my first introduction to poetry. Now you have inspired me to write more in addition to what I have already written. Thank you

I guess I don't know how to read limericks lol because every time I read them the flow seems off and that ruins the enjoyment for me... But limericks are meant to be fun and you certainly have fun with them. Thanks for sharing.

You've become so adept at this style, Regis. I can see these poems have become more complex, too, as you've had to challenge yourself again and again to be more creative than the last time. Well done. Enjoyed the 1rst one especially because it allowed us a glimpse back in time. Hugs,

There once was a young man named Reg,
Reg drove himself an AMC Rogue,
At the time that car was in vogue,
Off the road he ran it, into a hedge,
He couldn't tell his dad,
So into a valley he pushed it over a ledge,
Never again was it seen, crushed it was into a wedge...e

The Hulls in my family have nary a bald spottieo except for me own daddy with one on the top of his heady.

I once thought of buying an AMC Matador, jacking it up in the back, so that the fastback would be almost flat, and then add some mags and beef up the engine so that I would have a rather unique muscle car. Didn't do it. Now, a car like that will go for a hundred grand.

And I forgot about the seat folding down and no gear shift to get hung up on.
