I Ripped My Pants

My 15 year old granddaughter ripped her pants at school, and this poem is about what she experienced that day.

                                                I RIPPED MY PANTS

FOR TRINITY

First I heard a R-R-R-I-I-P,

And then I felt a draft.

Everyone standing behind me,

Either snickered or laughed.

It had to happen at school,

Surrounded by my friends.

I had ripped my pants,

And it was like torture that never ends.

Somehow I caught my pants on my locker,

And ripped a hole in the seat.

I blushed a bright crimson,

My face turned red as a beet.

It wasn’t cool that it happened at school,

And so early in the day.

Oh, the indignity of it all,

Knowing my rear was on display.

I was rescued by my grandmother,

Who took me home to change my clothes.

Then back to school I went,

Still feeling quite exposed.

It was a traumatic day to say the least,

One that left me horrified and aghast.

I’m just glad I had underwear on,

Or I would’ve been really em-bare-assed!

Awww!!!... She must have felt embarrassed. I'm glad she was brave enough to stay for the day.

I think if your daughter put that story written by you into her school paper it might help her and her friends to find it as funny as I did when I read it...laughing at herself is a big step towards adulthood...-e-

Not your usual but a joy to read. I'm sure that Trinity loves it and will keep a copy around for a long time.

I know how embarrassing it can be. I love to recount the day my twin brother and I came in from first grade recess to take off our snow pants and place them on hooks in the hall. We forgot that it was the first warm day and we hadn't worn snow pants. It wasn't the air on our bare legs that informed us, but our teacher telling us to, "Pull your pants up!" to all the girls and boys in the hall! Thankfully, our mother always provided us with clean white underwear…
