Transcendental Sonnet #1382:
Consider the Moon
When I consider the moon and I do
It always seems to be a she to me
She is a woman surely for she wears
Ineluctable femininity
To which nothing else in the sky compares
Beaming bone-white and shining silver through
The night as she waxes and wanes away
To nothing only to be born anew
Each night with something different to say
She speaks to me and surely speaks to you
When you consider the moon as I do
Can you not feel her gentle gravity?
She raises me and makes me stand up straighter
That winking eye is more than just a crater!
