What an awesome blessing... Today, February 12, 2007 ...
Four years ago today I was working in the corporate world, and awaiting the publication of my first book. It was lunchtime and I was trying to decide where to go for lunch...one of 2 places. It did not take long for me to feel I should go to a nearby upscale Mall, which I have been to many times. I always enjoy going there because it is not overcrowded and my special treat is going into Tiffany's ...just to walk around, feeling comfortable and happy, and knowing that someday I will buy myself a special gift there.
So, off I went, feeling wonderful and happy. Once there, I went to the food court and ate at the counter of Johnny Rocket's...love the old music and the old time feeling of that place. I found myself in conversation with a man who moved to Atlanta from New York, where he had worked as an accountant (I think) at Simon and Schuster Publishing. I was telling everyone about my first book getting published.
After eating I went to Tiffany's...which was pretty busy as it's shopping time for many, due to Valentine's Day only two days away.
A man behind the counter asked if I was shopping for Valentine's, and I said "no, I don't do Valentine's Day."
He said "oh, that's too bad." Then thinking about it, I said "Actually, I already have my Valentine gift." I then explained that my first book was in the process of getting published. The man was so thrilled for me that he came out from behind the counter to shake my hand and introduce himself. We had a long conversation about the book, the publisher, and the dedication in my book. Part of the dedication is "in memory of Audrey Hepburn, who so loved children" and the other part dedicated to UNICEF. I explained that I had the privilege of meeting Audrey a few years previously, the first time in Dublin,Ireland because my friend at UNICEF there asked me to photograph the 2 day event launching the Children's Appeal. I told him that my first knowledge of Audrey and Tiffany's was the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's".
That meeting and conversation led to some amazing Blessings, with continued residual blessings to this day.
Whenever I feel concerned or even a bit anxious about my life and where I am going, I remember those blessings and many others God has surprised me with so far...and peace and excitement wash over me for whatever else God has planned for me.
