Today started out rather sad, tired, anxious… I said to myself this morning, “this is going to turn out to be a great day!” To take my mind off my own concerns, I gathered up some items I had chosen to donate and took them to a shelter for battered women and children. Then I came home to start on some other projects…one, to work on my writing.
I am currently on the look-out again for work to bring in the finances I need to keep paying the bills, to support myself and my four legged companion, Bear. As much as my dream is to support myself with more creative work, such as my writing, there is much to do to get to that point. God has given me the gift of writing and I have been blessed with knowing that my first book, some of my poetry and other writings have encouraged and/or inspired others in their lives. I do find it difficult to spend significant time writing when I have to work full time to support us. So I just surrender it all to God and trust.
Recently on one of my sojourns to a city I would very much like to call Home, Greenville, South Carolina, I was reading the Greenville Journal and found a couple articles about writers there and what they are doing to help and encourage one another.
I emailed one of the authors, Mindy, who started The Writing Room for writers who want to learn more about their craft and be supported by each other. Mindy wrote me back. Then she sent me and three authors who live in Greenville, all of us wanting to find an agent to represent us and email so the four of us to communicate with each other.
All of this has inspired and encouraged me, filled me with excited energy to keep working on my craft and working toward the time when I can live and work my creative life full time. This has been part of an ongoing message center that continues to speak to me, and that quiet whisper deep inside that encourages me to keep at it.
What I feel when I am working on, or for my creative life is…JOYFUL, JOYFUL.
P.S. I just got word that the company I was temping with for four months and finished on Sept. 7th, wants me back to work on another project for a few weeks. Thank you God.
