Taxi Cab Confessions: New York City 8/31/2005 8:31:55 AM
The Suicide.... It was a dark, rainy night and the sky wailed with buckets of rain... And the streets were awash with torrents of rain. But this girl who had hailed my cab seemed desperate, alone, and afraid. When I got her to her destination she paid me and I looked into her eyes. I saw desperation there and a stark loneliness.
"Are you all right?" I asked.
"Not really," she replied. "I want to die."
"Boyfriend trouble?" I asked.
"Something like that," she replied.
"Don't do it," I said. "It's not worth it."
"How do you know?" she asked.
"I know because I died a long time ago. But I came back to worn you. I'm your guardian."
"Will I see you again," she asked.
"Only if you think of it again," I replied.
She smiled and when she did I realized she would be okay. So I drove off into the storm, into the torrents of rain and the oceans of despair which plague our race of desperate men and women.
