THE STRIKE! All I can say is thank God it's over. Talk about grid lock, this was impossible... A hellish experience right out of Dante's inferno. Traffic backed up for miles and miles, delays at the bridges and tunnels... People screaming at cabbys for their exorbitant pricing. It was a vision of just how ugly humanity can be. But just to set the record straight this cabby did not charge the 10 dollar per head, or even use the zoning method. Afterall, these brave New Yorkers who have been through 9/11 deserved a break. I even took cripples and other casualties of the city for the price of the meter alone!
I was once asked what my vision of hell was like if I were unfortunate enough to go there. I simply replied, "Midtown rush hour with a passenger who was having an anxiety attack because he or she was late for the theatre or a business meeting. I would now like to amend that statement. Hell is the rush hour anywhere in Manhattan when the Mass Transit System in on strike. That one definitely gets settled in hell!
