Forgive me Cornelius Vanderbilt! I must offer my apologies to the Vanderbilt family. You see, in my last post I alluded to the possibility that the Vanderbilts might have arranged for the perpetual upkeep of the statue of Cornelius Vanderbilt, which stands in the back of Grand Central Station. I humbly apologize. It seems that a certain city official called me yesterday and assured me that the city itself paid for the restoration of Grand Central Station, and, of course, the cleansing of the statue of Cornelius. This makes perfect sense to my mind, since I have never seen Cornelius looking better. And that coat! And those boots! It is good to know that he is prepared (unlike the homeless) for another painfully cold New York winter!
