Lao Tzu said, "He who feels punctured must once have been a bubble." Take it for what it's worth, because even the greatest empire will fall and crumble into dust. Somewhere else in the universe there's another earth, but it's dark and desolate. For it's inhabitants in their arrogance thought that they could control nature. But nature can create a blade of grass, a sun and a solar system, while we can only copy and with not nearly as much power.
I think it's wisdom to learn to live in harmony with our environment, then perhaps we can avoid ecological suicide. But it's been said before and mankind never heeds the writing on the wall. Justice is blind and very exacting. So I believe that karma is the greatest law, and that we will pay for our blindness and our madness, and yes, our inhumanity and our violence.
