Not selling so many books? Well, if you're like me then you've leapt into self publication as an alternative to years of endless streams of rejection. Guess what? We're in good company. Henry David Thoreau's book Walden Pond was self published and a resounding failure. Walt Whitman self published the 1855 edition of Leaves of Grass, it sold very few copies. Edgar Allan Poe was pretty much a failure in his own lifetime, and Herman Melville's towering novel, Moby Dick was also a failure, though it was published in his lifetime; poor Herman finished out his life as a clerk checking bills out at a custom's house. Or was that Hawthorn? No matter, the point is this: Genius' are seldom appreciated until they're dead and buried. Just so long as you're satisfied with your creations, remember to be happy and stay in the moment because success and failure are two sides of the same coin.
So much for words of encouragement to would be authors.
