Another Web site Discussion group brought up the issue of when the Recession started, and if it has ended as yet. It led to the following chain of thought.
Economic data released to the Public has altered since the presidency of George W. Bush. We hear no more of numbers of Business Starts, number of Business Shutdowns, whether Tax revenues from Personal Withholding taxes is increasing or decreasing, whether percentage increase of Household debt is increasing faster than percentage increase of Personal Wages. We get no data even on total volumes of Corporate dividends paid out in statistical years. We do not even get the traditional Republican data on how many Government employees each Private Sector employee must support in statistical terms. What We get is statement that the Bush Tax Cuts are good economic stimulus, even though Bush given four more years of such stimulus packaging, could well collect as much Deficit are all previous Presidents combined.
"Is the Recession over?" is a question which must join those immortal questions: "Is there a Santa Claus?" and "Are We there yet?" lgl
