What the Bush administration has and has not done for the Poor and Middle Class America.
Unreliable Sources (Sources who will not be named, or take responsibility for their claims) have suggested to myself that Homeland Security is running 18% over budget, Defense is running 11% over budget, and Congressional Pork Barrel projects have increased 19% since the Bush White House.
Bush's new regulations have reduced Section 8 vouchers for the housing of the Poor to payments equivalent to August 2003 payments plus the inflation rate, though there has been a 27% rise in requests. The Bush administration found $150 million from the 2003 budget to quiet outrage until after the Election.
Businesses are employing less Employees at less Wage than prior to the Bush administration, and getting a one-third greater tax break for doing so. Total Productivity is dropping in the Second Quarter, and August Retail Sales do not show normal Back-to-School expenditures. Unemployment claims (new) are up again, which Bush economists say are due to Hurrican Charley--only half come from this Source. The price of Oil is rising again, and the only proposed Bush counteraction is to open Alaskan Reserves to Oil drilling. The Bush administration took the lead in limiting the length of time Jobless claims can be drawn, enforcing the Byrd amendment for which the WTO is planning fines against U.S. exports. American Business gains, American labor and Consumer loses.
Business Management salaries and benefits rose throughout the Bush administration, while Consumer prices rose, Wages fell, and Stock dividends fell. Bush has accomplished the practical impossible: inciting two Recessions in one presidential administration. lgl
