My Brain is a Noodle 3/17/2008 10:42:18 AM
Why writer's block is like spaghetti! I'm sitting at my computer knowing that I have to write a chapter today or my novel will never get finished, much less started! As I place my hands on the keys I'm overcome by a sudden blackness that invades my brain. No, I haven't passed out, although the thought of giving into sleep does occur to me. If I'm alseep I might dream and if I dream I might figure out what my next chapter is going to be about!
Why is it so darn frustrating to write everyday? Why can't the ideas in my head stick to the insides of my brain like cooked spaghetti sticks to a wall when you throw it? Instead, I find my brain resembling a wet noodle and all my thoughts seem to be sliding out my ears to who knows where and I'm stuck with my fingers still on the keyboards wondering what the heck just happened!
I love to write, it thrills and exhilarates me. Which is why I'm absolutely confounded when I hit a roadblock - or should I say brain freeze? Because that's what it is - my brain simply freezes and hibernates for a few days(sometimes weeks), when all of a sudden a light goes on and if I'm not near my computer I better have a pen and paper with me, or anyone near me is going to suffer.
I'm sure this is a common problem among writers, if its not then I need some serious help! I think for now, I'll stay away from spaghetti and bulk up on my fruits and veggies. I hear the micronutrients from them are the antioxidents our brains rely on to safeguard its cells from damage and dysfunction. One more reason to listen to your mother and eat your veggies!
