Gustav was very gusty. Once again, the privacy fence is flattened, I had yo rush outside to save the peach tree from being uprooted, and the eastern edge of the roof has been compromised. I tried to go up and nail some tarp over the the compromised shingles, but some cops passed and told me to go inside, "Respect the curfew, man." I asked, :Even on my own property?" He answered, "Respect the curfew, okay." I went on inside, wnret into the attic, and placed pans under where the rain was seepiing in. It's raining in squalls. The heavy winds are coming easterly, not southerly like Katrina. A large branch from the pecan tree snapped and is laying in the yard. I guess when the curfew is over, I'll go out and start restoring the place. I thought gustav would be a rainmaker, but all we're gettinbg is pockets of rain. The power came back on at about six-forty-five. It was like the signal of the end to this event. In my book, THROUGH THE STORM, surviving Katrina was like a heavyweight championship fight. I was prepared for another, but this time, we truly dodged a bullet. Thank God. I know from the winds we got here, Terrebonne got pounded, and my prayers go out to them.
