referring to the narrative, Stygian Absolutes.
And the readers who took the time to read Library of Bones thought that was a complex one. I think I took that and made to the next level by writing Stygian Absolutes. Those of you who read the poem titled In Memoriam. I wrote that for a reader who died about a month ago -- she was only 22 years of age. Had her whole life ahead of her but never thought that I saw that coming. There are many factors that would inspire a peice that I wrote, this is the one that took me three days to write. It was a real struggle to get this one out there because of all that were telling me to give up -- not going to happen, I am not going to give them that satisfaction. Especially since the ones who were telling me to give up were bunch of teens who think the gothic in terms of Anne Rice than to H.P. Lovecraft. This one I had pulled out when I was listening to the band Empyrean Sky. It was inspired by the track Into The Depths, where you'd hear a lot of stories of thrash metal bands being influenced by horror authors, this would be the case of the writer being inspired by the band. The complexity was inspired by the band. There is a real literary value to the band in the lyrics because they have a Shakespherean feel to their work. Listening to this band, I got a lot as far as depth -- I want to go and find the book The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. I read one of her books a few years ago -- and the influence might not be seen too well but it is there with the narrative short story Vein Puppetry. I read Rand's work when I was in high school -- her book I had at the time was Anthem. The story The Sermon was inspired by a friend who is a writer, and some of his work can be found on his journal. I will come up with something later in the month though before going to Peoria -- I am leaving for Peoria in October and returning on Nov 3, 2003.
