....the process of finding horror writers for the book anthology....
So far for the Weird Tales Anthology venture -- Terry Vinson wants in on this, anyone else interested in contributing. The stories that I have in mind for this are horror of the non-erotic nature because there are too many erotica writers out there. Not that many Zombie horror writers, and looking for dark werewolf stories with a Lovecraftian twist as well. So far Lovecraft is respresented and Robert Bloch, just trying to find out what writers are influenced by who -- I am going to be doing the hand picking of them for this along with Terry. Then send an email to Double Dragon Ebooks to petition this -- we can make this happen. The idea for the book would be this -- the writers who contributed stories would write their testimony of how a Weird Tales era writer had influenced them. I know right now that Ron Dondiego I would ask for this along with Joseph Armstead, then Hasan Abood because he did not get enough exposure. From reading The Face he would fit in fine with this. The first writer I contacted for this was Brutal Dreamer who is a staff member of there. The title of the book if it is able to get off the ground would be "PassagesoftheBizarre: ATributeToWeirdTalesMagazine." I am looking to get the most surreal writers on the Den involved on this -- the ones I will contribute if they can get this going, "Among Shadows," "Shadow of the Gathering," "Library Of Bones," "Evil Airs," (the diary-x version,) "De Pointe Noir," "Darkness From The Skies" and "Places of the Cold." The stories would be set up in sections of the book according to the Weird Tales Author and then the author who that author influenced. I can see this one as being H.P. Lovecraft and Robert Bloch influenced stories being the largest portion of the set. I am thinking of doing this in two volumes. Eight stories per writer if they are on average of 2000 to 6000 words, and Novella length, two per writer they get to contributed six short stories of their own. The age group I am targeting with the readership in this tribute are the ages of 16 to 26 years old -- about the age that a good number of writers when they discover H.P. Lovecraft but this would keep the older writers in mind because they would be the ones who'd remember the stories from there. The more obscure the better, as long it is not erotica themed. Shared World -- go for it. The story Library of Bones is the perfect story to do a shared world -- I encourage any writer on AuthorsDen to write a story that goes into that one. It is my own original concept of a horror story but with the Cthulhu Mythos in mind.
