CHARLEY HORSE IS NO FRIEND OF MINE
Charley Horse shows up now and then,
But as an uninvited guest.
He really puts a cramp in my life,
He’s a nuisance and a pest.
He arrives without warning,
An ache you can’t ignore.
He can be such a big pain,
And always leaves me sore.
He likes to muscle his way in,
And I spasm in shock.
I end up tense and tight,
With a limp in my walk.
Thankfully, he never stays to long,
Although it’s long enough.
Charley Horse is no friend of mine,
He always treats me rough.

Love ya!

Usually riding my bike home from high school, I quit because of the shame associated with bike writing while other kids were driving their cars. I began to walk the two miles home. One afternoon after track practice, I was asked if I'd like a ride from another student with a car. I obliged and got in the backseat with others. Suddenly, my right thigh seem to get tied in a knot with excruciating pain. Like everyone has said, it went away. I had my first encounter with Charlie Horse.
These days old Charlie Horse visits me almost daily even though I take strong medicine to keep that biting horse away. You might say we have developed a friendship of mutual torturous understanding. I let him live and he lets me.
