Fog drifts across water,
Wrapping itself around cypress feet.
Curling skyward, wispy fingers reach
Bare arms of winter,
Caressing memory of leaves.
The bayou sighs, whispering
Softly the secrets known..
Breathing dampness
Quietly shivering ripples upon the bank.
How I wish to paint this
Gossamer beauty, this morning,
On still-water canvas...
Capturing stolen moments of time
Before the sun warms, melting
The ghosts of dawn.
Perhaps I shall write of it instead..
Later...when the ghosts are gone
And I am left with only whispers.
It is always an indeed pleasure to read such splendid real work such as this one. This is well written and adqaute in everyway. Thanks for sharing this with us all here on the Den.

Myrna, this poem puts me right there in the midst of a hauntingly beautiful bayou scene, something that I have only imagined and hope to experience one day in person. What a lovely piece of artwork you have chosen! I can tell this special world is truly a part of you and you are a part of it. Thanks for taking me to this special place through your mind's eye.

I so envy you the beauty of your bayou's, I have read so much about them and long to someday visit and sample the moods that yours and others who write of them stir up in my imagination. Lovely write Myrna,
Beautiful words do paint your beloved bayou for us. Should you use oils or wtercolors, also, the result would be so stunning its beauty would be blinding. For me, your lovely word picture is enough, and I feel good for you that you live where it is virtually just outside your window. Your poem is a tribute to an entire world of nature nearby.
