Thank a Veteran. Let their nights pass knowing they're not forgotten.

... mouth waters at the thought
of rain:  let it fall.  Been
running through dusty streets
looking for relief to
quench the aftermath of
bones set afire by the
heat of war.  The V.A.
does not bring comfort in
their pills designed into
following those who have
forgotten; alcohol
does not stop the names on
the Wall marching through an
uneasy sleep.  How my
mouth waters for peace in
the rain:  it never comes.

Dear Karla, my son was in Iraq and he's told me it's around 114 on a normal day but it can be even higher depending on the weather. It's a terrible place to be and life there is worse than your worse nightmare. Your poem is sad but written to touch the very core of the soul. It says so much and I hope the world reads this to get an idea of what our Servicemen are going through. I'm praying they will be out of their and Afghanistan in the near future.

My daughters friend is in Iraq and they were moving their camp yesterday into a boggy area. Your poem reminds me of his environment without the shelter of a building and his home a HumVee.His boots are worn and the steel toe is cutting into his feet. He will wait until he can get new ones when he can. He will also have to pay for them out of his pocket. War has changed. Not only do you pay for your life, at times, you pay for what your needs are too to fight.

Love,
Susan

"How my mouth waters for peace in the rain; it never comes." Truer words were never spoken or penned; powerful write with a poignant touch to them. May we always reemmber the sacrifices our veterans made for our freedoms; God bless them all! And thank YOU for serving! Your efforts were NOT in vain!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :(
