If we could hear our American flag....
What would it say....

Poem Artwork

A dark and humid morning
A soldier kneels and prays
He dreams of family and home
As he counts the days
He don't hear the gunfire
As the bullet finds its place
He's left hurt and bleeding
Disbelief etched on his face
With pride I stand and wave
Amist war and crimson stains
You can raise me to the skies
But you can't touch my pain

******************************

I'm the red white and blue
But there is so much more to see
Blood, tears and a soldiers screams
Are sown inside of me
With every stitch of the needle
Another prayer is said
As the war rages on and on
Another soldier is dead
I wave with pride and glory
As the world goes insane
You can raise me to the skies
But you can't touch my pain

*******************************

A soldier's mother weeps in anquish
Clutching a picture of her son
Nothing can ever bring him back
When all is said and done
I hear the cries of the forgotten
Tears America can't see
A soldier holding his dying friend
No bitter taste of victory
A child weeps over her fathers grave
Standing in the pouring rain
You can raise me to the skies
But you can't touch my pain...

Yes, this poem struck a cord. A cord that is so painful I don't want to return to that time or place. Thank God I am away from that horror called war. Amen!

Peace, Love and Blessings,

John Michael

Your poem touched my pain. I feel that pain every time I wonder why so many young people have to die in old people's wars.

Your poetry touched me in a deep part of my heart and senses today. I felt your pain for our country as I feel it every day. Where will all the insanity end? That is the question so many of us are asking. Well written, Linda.

I enjoyed reading your well=written poem today about the veterans.
The soldiers are fighting, have fought and won our wars, they bleed,
die and still continue to press on to save a land of freedom and to
fight for what we believe in. God Bless you for writing such a
wonderful poem to commorate our soldiers lives. Have a Bless Day.

A poem beautifully written of sorry, death, and hope. We have the ability to make war within us, we also have the resolutions for war inside us. One day war will be eradicated, Alleluia, thank you Jesus!

Once again, Linda, you reach in and touch the heart in honor of our Veterans. Thank you. Beautifully, powerfully penned. May not be able to touch it, but you've come close ...

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
