More limerick nonsense...

Poem Artwork

Limericks  XI

There once was a farmer from Maine
He thought the rain was his bane
But when he viewed his crops
Of flourishing hops
He realized the rain was his gain

There once was a fair young maiden
Who met a fellow named Aidan
In search of some thrills
They went to the hills
Where all the apple trees were laden
(Where Aidan and the maiden met Haydn)
(Where they made music with Haydn)

There once was a bunny named Bugs
Who wanted to sell jugs and rugs
He sat on his fanny
And sold not many
He was most renowned for his hugs

There once was a gal named Sal
She had a boyfriend named Cal
They wanted to marry
But he could not carry
A single tune for his pal

There once was a fellow from York
Who refused to do physical work
When asked why he said
I work with my head
That's the way I get the most torque

There's a belle from the dell named Janelle
She wanted to ring the church bell
When at last they let her
She got it together
This belle from the dell did it well

There was a young lady at school
She always obeyed every rule
But one day she rebelled
And she got expelled
For calling the teacher a fool

There was a cranky old seer
He had a fondness for beer
He sat in his chair
Gazed out in the air
I hear his forecasts weren't clear

An attorney at law filled with greed
Took advantage of those most in need
But the stock market crashed
His profits were smashed
Now his clients are watching him bleed

A snake by the name of Finnister
Is said to be quite sinister
Be that as it may
Much to our dismay
Finnister's now prime minister

This limerick poem is satirical. Definitely great medicine for those feeling down or blue. It is like a dose of the happy drug. Quite entertaining. Perhaps there is even something to ponder about here.

I really enjoyed reading this poem, but the flow seems off for me.

I also noticed that at the end of one of your stanzas you have two lines in parentheses. I was just wondering what that was about. Were you pondering which line better fits the stanza?

Thanks for sharing.

-Lena

Totally agree with Ron... like the very best of pantomime, it's the "funny Dames" who always raise the roof with their sardonic and witty truisms that are more than a little close to the bone. The attorney at law limerick is especially well-honed... I wonder why!!?? Another fine string of both whimsy and wisdom pearls, Regis... thanks for indulging us! :)) xx
